When Daddy's Away, The Girls Will Play!

Most of you probably know that DJ is in Virginia for 2 weeks. While he's gone Taylor goes off track, and Ginny finishes up with school. Luckily, the weather has been AWESOME, so we are trying to plan some fun things to do, to keep our minds off of missing Dad so much. So far we've just played outside a bunch. (Okay, the girls play, and Mom just hauls dirt and torn up sod around). Once the girls found out that we will be enjoying near 90 degree weather, they immediately got out their swimsuits.

We bought a zoo pass, so we'll have to take advantage of that (Oh Joy). I just checked availability for our timeshare in St. George, and I'm actually considering taking the girls down there from Monday to Wednesday. I'm still thinking on that one though. With my luck we'll get a flat or something, and I've never figured out how to get the spare out of the van. I'll let you know what I decide!

With DJ away, it has gotten me thinking about some of the things I get to do when he's gone.

1- Sleep in the middle of the bed.

2- Sleep without snoring ringing in my ears. ( I've been sleeping so great)!

3- Watch a different girly movie every night. So far I have watched Hairspray, 27 dresses (loved it), and P.S. I Love You.

4- Have whatever we want for dinner, and not feel guilty that DJ doesn't have a nice meal to come home to. (Not that he cares, he eats anything)!

5- Leave dirty dishes, and not feel guilty about being home all day and not having a spotless house. (Again, not that he cares, but I feel lazy when he witnesses that).

6- Take the girls on a trip, and not worry that we're leaving him home alone.

Some of the things that suck when he's gone:

1- I have to do EVERYTHING!

2- Mowing the lawn with a P.O.S. lawn mower that's not self propelled. That was fine in our old house, but this yard sucks!

3- Having to take the kids with me everywhere.

4- I can't say, "You just wait until your Dad gets home!"

5- After the first couple of days, I miss him horribly. The site where he is, is located in the middle of the woods, so he doesn't get phone reception. I only get to talk to him at night.

I will spare you all the emotional junk, but it stinks having him gone. As you can see from the picture, DJ was meant to be a Dad! His girls absolutely adore him! (Okay, I do too)!

Only 9 more days!!!

8 Days, and Counting.

I cannot wait for the new Walmart to open up down the street from me!! I am so tired of either driving to South Jordan, or having to pay double for my food at Albertson's and Peterson's. I know that Walmart is horrible and all, but at the end of the day, I save a ton of money on food there.

The new store will be close enough that I can walk. I told DJ that I am going to just keep a shopping cart in my garage, and walk there every week. Can you imagine what all of my neighbors would think?

Anyway, to save on gas, maybe I will have to have a new rule that if something can't be bought at Walmart, then we don't need it. That would be funny.

The local paper said that the grand opening will have the Kool Aid Man, the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile, some Disney Princess', and of course food and prizes. It sounds like I won't have to cook any dinner on the 21st, we'll all just ride our bikes to Walmart for free grub!

Now all we need is for the new Costco to get finished up.... Yeah!!

Shoot Me Now Please!

So Taylor and Ginny had their yearly checkups on Monday. Every year they ask if they have to get shots. This year, I was pleased to tell them that they did not need any immunizations. Luckily, they were actually excited to go and get a sticker.

Well, the nurse came in and informed me that Taylor needed to get a second Chicken Pox vaccine, and that we may as well get Ginny's kindergarten shots taken care of. Needless to say, they were not happy!

I decided that Taylor should go first, since she's older and only needed one..... BAD IDEA! I thought that she was going to pass out. She was shaking, hyperventilating, and kept pulling away from the nurse. I had to hold her on my lap. When the needle actually went in, she freaked! After it was done, I happened to look over at Ginny. She was backed into the corner, shaking, crying, and covering her eyes. (She was peeking out and watching though).

Ginny of course, was not going to take her turn. I had to pick her up, and hold her on my lap too. Luckily, she listened to the nurse, and didn't pull away. Again, she freaked out. You would have thought that we were operating on them while they were awake! I then looked over at Tay, and she was watching Ginny's needles and hyperventiliating again.

I totally blame DJ for the drama. He comes close to passing out everytime he sees a needle. He had to have blood drawn for insurance, and had to lay down and suck on a piece of candy in order to survive.

Poor Reese just was staring at the girls wondering what in the world was going on. The Dr then told them that they didn't need anymore shots until they were 11. I guess that she forgot about flu shots.... I am dreading October. Poor Ginny spent most of the day yesterday with a 104 degree fever, and her joints were achey. She kept telling me that she doesn't want to turn 11.

I was pretty grouchy by the time we headed home. I'm making DJ take them for their flu shots! I am very glad that we got that over with!

Mother of The Year!

It totally cracks me up how things change when you add more kids to the mix. When Tay was wee, the house was always spotless. Even though I was working, she knew her shapes (ALL of them ) before she was 2. She could recognize 1-5 by 18 months, and arrange them in the right order. Knew her ABC's before 2, could recognize all of them, as well as the sounds they made by 3, and was reading at 4.

A month or 2 ago, Ginny brought home a certificate from school. The teacher had circled all of the letters in the first half of the alphabet that Ginny had recognized. I think that she cirlced 3 or 4. (In her defense, she did know all of them). This certificate was signed by her teacher, and meant to be saved... it found a new home in the trash.

Her poor teacher probably thinks that she's either mildly retarded, or that her Mom is. The other day when I asked her how she wanted her hair fixed, she asked for a mohawk. I said no, for obvious reasons, and she got mad because I let Reese have one. Also, she is fascinated by a girl that works at Noodles & Co., who has many face piercings and crazy colored hair. She notices whenever the girl changes her piercings or hair color. Is that what I have to look forward to?

So, what does this mean for poor Reese? Maybe I should just enroll her now for the "special" classes in school.

I wish that I could say that atleast my house is spotless, but sadly enough, it's definately not. I guess that I better tell DJ and the girls that they don't need to get me anything for Mother's Day this year, unless it's a housekeeper and a tutor for my kids.

Lots of Fun...

Yesterday, our neighbors had a Birthday party for their dog. I know that seems crazy, but they have 2 little girls who planned the whole thing. It was basically an excuse to get out the giant slide and bounce house, and eat ice cream with the neighbors. All of the kids had so much fun!

My friend had her camera and got some really cute shots of Ginny jumping.

While the kids played, the Mom's talked, and the Dad's played basketball. What a good excuse to get out and enjoy the good weather. (Not for long, a storm is blowing in and our power keeps going out)!

So Funny!!

DJ and I went and saw Baby Mama last night, and it was so hilarious!! I could not stop laughing. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the funniest pair. I was sad when Tina Fey left SNL.
Anyway, I would definately recommend this movie. It also ended up being kind of cute too. (Maybe I just enjoyed it because I was without kids... that RARELY happens)!
