Funny / Gross

I would like to start by saying that at 10 months old, Reese has NEVER had a blowout. I know, that's unheard of, but true. There were a few occasions as a tiny wee one, that she leaked a tiny bit onto the leg of her onsie. Also, we can't forget the time when DJ was changing her on the ottoman, and when he lifted her bum up she sprayed him with poop. (Funniest thing EVER... he was screaming like a girl while I sat there laughing/trying not to pee. He had it running down his bare leg).

Anyway, we were getting ready for church on Sunday, making great time. Reese is now mobile, and we don't have a gate at the top of our stairs yet, so DJ put her in her room and closed the door. When it was time to get her dressed, he went to open her door and discovered that she was sitting up against it. He couldn't get her to move so he slowly started scooting her with the door. I was able to squeeze through and pick her up. After I picked her up, I noticed a big blob of poop on her door. Apparently she had pooped, and when DJ pushed her with the door it must of pushed the nasty out of the top of her diaper. Let's just say she was a stinky mess.

I had to carefully strip her down, and re bathe her. Luckily, it only got on her back and the door, the carpet was spared.

Needless to say, we were 10 minutes late for church.

On a side note, she said her first word after church..... bum-bum. I was singing her the shake your bum-bum song, and she repeated it back to me 3 times. She later said it for my neighbor to witness, but I don't know if DJ believes it. She did say duck in front of him yesterday though.

Bum-bum.... that cracks me up. Yup, she's definately mine!!

Water Slide Fun

Good Idea Gone Bad

One of our favorite Summer activities is going to the drive in. We try to go atleast once every season. On Thursday, we decided that we would go see Wall-E and Price Caspian. Reese was already tired, so we figured that she would be asleep by the time we got there, and we could just leave her to sleep in her carseat. We were wrong! The kid would NOT go to sleep! We tried letting her hang out with the girls in the back of the van, sitting on our laps, sitting in her carseat... nothing would work. When people are parked right next to you, you can't just let her cry it out. We finally put her in her carrier and swung the thing back and forth for about 15 minutes. By the time she crashed, the movie was 3/4 of the way over and I had no clue what was going on.

Well, once she was asleep we figured that we could enjoy the second movie, so DJ went to buy some pretzels. As soon as the show started, she woke up and just started bawling. I then packed up the stuff and as soon as DJ got back to the car, we went home. We were all disapointed, except Ginny, who fell asleep as soon as Wall-E ended.

For any of you who may decide to try this adventure, I came up with a few drive in tips.

1. Don't show up too early. If you wait a bit, then you can determine who you park next to, which brings me to my next tip...
2. I suggest parking by a modest sedan, minivan, or suburban. They are usually filled with decent families enjoying a night out.
3. DONT park next to an old neon/escort/malibu/ pimped out anything/or monster truck... they are usually filled with loud drinker smokers, who let their kids run around the whole time.
4. If you do happen to be next to the above said people, only say something about their annoying behavior if you either want to get knifed, or you you brought your own knife and are ready for a brawl.
5. The drive in is on Redwood Rd, in the heart of West Valley.... Enough said.

Basically, if you are up for a fun filled evening, the drive in will do it. I grew up in the ghetto, so I like to revisit my childhood days every once in a while. If we decide to venture out again, I will probably be calling one of you to babysit Reese, so thanks in advance!!

Blake's Wedding

Thank you Laurel, for teaching Ginny to pose. She now fake smiles, turns her head to the side, flares her nostrils, and puts her hand on her hip. It is virtually impossible to get her to actually smile normally. It makes for some funny pictures!

Family Wedding

Yesterday, DJ's brother Blake got married to an awesome girl named Cassie. We have fallen in love with Cassie, and are so excited for the both of them. Blake is going to make such a great husband and Dad. He is so much like DJ, so I know that Cassie will be very happy!

The ceremony was perfect, and we had so much fun at their reception. The girls were in heaven. They got to wear pretty dresses, pass out candy, carry flowers, and dance with their cousins. It was so cute to see all of them running around in their darling outfits.

Our favorite part was the yummy sundae bar brought in by Leatherby's. Our first house was right by Leatherby's, so DJ and I used to go there and get a huge banana split for dinner every once in a while. That was before kids, and having to worry about gaining 5 lbs in one sitting.

We had a wonderfully busy day, but I'm making up for that today. It is almost 4 pm, and I'm sitting here with no makeup, unfixed hair, and dishes from yesterday are sitting in my sink. Reese is still in her PJ's, but atleast I got a shower in, right? I guess I will just have to make up for my laziness tomorrow, but for now, I am doing absolutely nothing. I hope the kids won't mind having cereal for dinner!

Schools Out For Summer (thanks Alice Cooper)!

Taylor finished the 2nd grade on Tuesday, and summer officially started at our house on Wednesday!

I'm a mean Mom.... I made Taylor spend her first morning of Summer pulling weeds. Ginny was supposed to be helping, but basically played in the dirt. She is becoming quite the little helper. I told DJ that I'm going to "home school" her, and put her to work everyday. I could double my productivity at home. (Very tempting).

After I decided that they had earned their keep, they started out their vacation by spending the day playing on the slip and slide, and playing in our white trash swimming pools. I have found over the years that I am reluctant to get out the kiddie pool too often, because I hate having to drain it every day, then refill it the next all summer long. I went and bought some collapsable bins at Costco, and they each get their own to "swim" in. They actually LOVE them! They like to fill them up in the morning, and let them warm up a bit in the sun. They call them their hot tubs. It could be worse, when I was a kid, we used to put a big garbage sack in our garbage cans and fill them with water. The black sacks helped the water heat up quicker, making for a nice relaxing soak. (Gross, I know, but I had such a fun childhood)!

We finished the day with a nice barbecue, then set up the tent in the backyard. We brought out the portable DVD player and watched Spiderwick Chronicles (very fun movie). I slept out with Taylor and Ginny, while DJ slept inside with Reese. We made it until 5 am, and I finally made the girls come inside with me so that I could get a few hours of decent sleep.

Luckily, Reese slept until 8 am, had a bottle and then went back to sleep until 11!!! I LOVE that baby. I had to keep checking on her to make sure that she was okay. She looked so peaceful that I had to take a picture. Ginny later crashed on the floor while we were setting up her new room. (more on that another post).

The girls have basically been partying ever since. Too bad it's back to school at the end of July... unless of course I decide to "home school" Taylor.

Do I Laugh ?

Yikes!

Well my great sister Laurel took some pictures of my girls for me. After she had done some photo touch ups, she sent some of the pictures to Costco for me. I took the girls in with me yesterday, and decided to check the photos after I paid for them. I opened up the envelope, and let out a gasp. Here is what I found....
I seriously do not remember the last time that I laughed so hard! I was standing in the middle of Costco with tears streaming down my face and legs crossed, trying not to pee. I showed the picture to the girls, and Ginny was laughing just as hard as me. Tay freaked out, and refused to look at it. Apparently it scared her.

After leaving the store, we swung by Carmax to show DJ, and he about dropped the picture. He looked at it a few times, and had to put it away because he found it too disturbing. He's going to put it in his frame at work and see what people say.

So far, everyones reactions have been so funny! We had a bridal shower today for my future sister in law, and we showed it to DJ's grandma. She took the picture and said, "Oh, how cute!" After a second she got a funny look on her face and asked if they were wearing makeup... it was priceless!

It makes me wonder what the photo tech thought while printing it up. They probably were wondering what the poor parents looked like.
